January 13, 2003 - Infogrames and Reflections recently revealed new information on their massively popular, upcoming action-racing game Driver 3. Due this year, Reflections reportedly plans to bring its immensely successful franchise to PS2, Xbox, GameCube and PC.
Using an enhanced, optimized Stuntman engine -- which features an extensively detailed physics engine and robust lighting abilities -- Driver 3 takes its cue from the previous Driver games and no doubt gleans ideas from Rockstar's Grand Theft Auto series, which it's been competing with every other year or so it seems.
The new details are a bit thin, but reports tell of players' ability to jack any car on the road which also means players can get in and out of any car, (just like in Driver 2). As usual, Reflections has created unlicensed cars that resemble real life vehicles, and much like in the second in the series, players will drive a plethora of vehicles, from powerful, wonderfully poor handling American '70s cars to larger trucks and even boats.
Players also will be able to go indoors, too. And Driver 3 is said to take place in Miami, Florida; Nice, France; and Istanbul, Turkey, with massive roads and landscapes being designed up to 30 square miles.
Infogrames plans to deliver more substantial details on Driver 3 in the near future, and we promise to give you every single shred of information we get, so stick around.
