Juventus are close to reaching an agreement with Inter Milan for centre-forward Christian Vieri.
The deal is expected to see Marco Di Vaio move to Inter, plus one other Juve player. Inter have asked for Lilian Thuram, though director general Luciano Moggi is offering Enzo Maresca.
The other stumbling block is Vieri's wages. The Italian is earning almost £6 million-a-year at Inter, with still two years left on his deal.
Juve have offered the 31 year-old a four-year contract worth £12 million.
Vieri is looking for a golden handshake from Inter to cushion the massive wage-cut and Juve are prepared to assist by offering the Nerazzurro Fabian Carini in exchange for the extra £1.4 million the striker is looking for.
While the haggling continues, those close to the deal insist it will happen - with an announcement made possibly as early as next week.
