Lyon manager Alain Perrin has insisted that the Ligue 1 title race is not over, despite his side opening up a six-point lead at the top of the table after a 4-2 victory over nearest challengers Bordeaux.
A first-half brace by Mathieu Bodmer and second-half goals from man of the moment Karim Benzema and Abdul Keita sealed the victory after an engrossing game at the Stade Gerland.
The result puts Lyon in a commanding position to claim a seventh successive league title, but former Portsmouth boss Perrin is refusing to look too far ahead.
"We are six points ahead, six points which we have taken from Bordeaux," he said.
"But it isn't over. There are still plenty of matches left and nothing is over.
"If we are going to win the title, we are going to have to start picking up points away from home."
The result came off the back of Lyon's disappointing Champions League exit at the hands of English champions Manchester United, and Lyon's reaction heartened their manager.
Perrin said: "The team responded as I had hoped.
"I knew the motivation was there but what worried me was the tiredness and comedown that could have remained after the United match.
"The players realised the importance of this match and did what they needed to. In the second half, we proved how solid we are and had the courage to hold on to this result."
Bordeaux coach Laurent Blanc refused to concede that the title was in the bag for Perrin's side.
"I am happy to hear the Lyon coach say that the title race is not over. I think that as well," he said.
"When you make the start we did, it is difficult to play against Lyon. The bad start is the only reproach I have for my players.
"After that we played, we attacked, but we fell to a very good team."
