Real Madrid are prepared to pay 50 million euros to secure the services of Lyon striker Karim Benzema, according to reports in Spain.
The 20-year-old, one of the hottest prospects in European football, was linked with a move to a number of big clubs last summer, but the Spanish champions are keen to swoop for him in July next year.
Benzema has signed a deal with the seven-times French champions that contains a get-out clause of 100m euros (£79m), but Spanish newspaper AS claim Madrid could get their man for 50m euros (£39.5m).
Benzema - last season's top scorer in Ligue 1 - has hinted a move to Madrid is something that would interest him in the future.
But Madrid are likely to face stiff competition for his signature, with Manchester United and Barcelona also thought to be big admirers of the youngster.
