Az AUDI AG jövõbeni versenysport-szereplése alapvetõen három területre oszlik: a négykarikás márka a 2009-es szezonban a Le Mans-i 24-órás versenyen valamint a DTM mezõnyében egyaránt ismét megméretteti magát. Mindezt az új Audi R8 LMS formájában az Audi Sport által elsõ ízben, kifejezetten az ügyfélsport céljaira kifejlesztett versenymodell egészíti ki.
Ezzel együtt viszont az Audi a 2009-es szezonban nem vesz részt az Amerikai Le Mans Sorozat (American Le Mans Series; ALMS) küzdelmeiben.
„Tisztában vagyunk a versenysportnak a márka sikerei tekintetében betöltött rendkívül fontos szerepével” – hangsúlyozta Michael Dick, aki az igazgatótanács mûszaki fejlesztésért felelõs tagjaként az AUDI AG versenysport-tevékenységét is felügyeli. „Ennek megfelelõen magától értetõdõ, hogy az Audi mindvégig, még a gazdaságilag nehezebb idõszakok során is a versenypályák állandó szereplõje kíván maradni. Annál fontosabb számunkra, hogy olyan versenyágakban jelenjünk meg, ahol a költségek és az elõnyök mérlege egyértelmûen pozitívan alakul.”
Az Audi így a sport-prototípusok és a DTM mezõnyében egyaránt a további részvétel mellett döntött. Az Audi R8 LMS formájában pedig az Audi immár ügyfélcsapatai számára is színvonalas technikát és jellegzetes Audi-vonásokat hordozó, ám emellett viszonylag egyszerûen vezethetõ versenyautót kínál.
Új dízel versenyautó Le Mans-ra
Az Audi a Le Mans-i 24-órás versenyen különösen is képviselni kívánja „A haladás technikáját”. A négykarikás márka e nagy múltú, klasszikus francia megbízhatósági verseny történetében tavaly júniusi, immár nyolcadik gyõzelmével csupán egyetlen diadallal marad el a Ferrari mögött. Ennél több Le Mans-i diadalt már csak a Porsche számlál.
Az Audi tehát kilencedik gyõzelmét vette célba a világ talán legkeményebb autóversenyén, ahol immár szintén az alternatív és üzemanyag-takarékos hajtások állnak a figyelem középpontjában. Az Audi mindennek 2009 júniusában már egy teljesen új fejlesztésû LMP1-kategóriás versenygéppel kíván eleget tenni. Az Audi R15 TDI már elsõ pillantásra is alapvetõen különbözik elõdjétõl, az R10 TDI modelltõl, s számos innovatív mûszaki megoldása révén az Audi jövõre is meg kívánja õrizni Le Mans-i elsõségét.
Az új Le Mans-i prototípus kisebb, könnyebb és még gazdaságosabb TDI-motorral készül. Karosszériája és aerodinamikai fejlesztései terén az Audi Sport mérnökei a jelenlegi Audi A4 DTM modellen is jól látható fejlesztési irányvonalat követték.
„Egyértelmû számunkra, amennyiben továbbra is ilyen sikeresek akarunk Le Mans-ban maradni, teljesen új versenyautót kell készítenünk” – fejtette ki Dr. Wolfgang Ullrich, az Audi versenyigazgatója. „Az eredmény pedig az Audi R15 TDI. Az R10-tõl az R15-ig jóval nagyobb lépést tettünk, mint annak idején az R8 és az R10 között.”
Az elõdmodellbõl ugyanis csupán az alapkoncepciót vették át, az ugyancsak nyitott roadster felépítésû R15 TDI hajtásáról szintén TDI-erõforrás gondoskodik. Az Audi egyelõre nem kíván nyilvánosságra hozni további részleteket.
Az új Le Mans-i versenygép elsõ, nem nyilvános tesztjeire a tervek szerint még az idén sor kerül. Az R15 TDI a nagyközönség számára csak közvetlenül elsõ versenyszereplése, a 2009. március 21-i, 12-órás sebringi (Amerikai Egyesült Államok) futam elõtt mutatkozik majd be.
Az Audi Sport Team Joest három új R15 TDI prototípussal áll rajthoz a 24-órás Le Mans-i versenyen.
A 2008-as DTM bajnok-autó továbbfejlesztése
Az Audi aktuális bajnokként, 2008-as gyõztes versenyautójának továbbfejlesztett változatával, s igen ambiciózus célkitûzésekkel érkezik a DTM rajtjára. Az Audi az „új” DTM történetének elsõ gyártójaként szeretné a bajnoki címet sorozatban immár harmadszor is elhódítani.
Az új A4 DTM-változata nyolc pole pozíciójával és hat gyõzelmével még magasabbra emelte a mércét a 2008-as szezon során. Az „R14 plus” belsõ kóddal jelölt modell szinte minden területen tovább fejlõdött.
A sikeres Abt Sportsline, Phoenix és Rosberg csapatok összesen négy új és akár öt 2008-as Audi A4 versenygéppel sorakoznak majd fel a DTM mezõnyében. Pilótái tekintetében az Audi a már jól ismert és bizonyított tehetségekre épít, mindegyik pilóta a 2008-as szezon DTM és R10 TDI legénységébõl kerül ki.
Az Audi R8 GT3-versenyváltozata
Az R8 GT3-változata formájában az Audi elsõ ízben fejlesztett ki kifejezetten az ügyfélsport céljaira szánt versenyautót. Az Audi R8 LMS hajtásáról 500 lóerõ feletti, V10-es aggregát gondoskodik majd.
Az új Audi R8 LMS a 2009-es szezon során már megjelenik a versenypályákon: a különbözõ európai versenysorozatokban és a Nürburgring 24-órás futamán akár nyolc ügyfélautó is rajthoz állhat, utóbbi viadalra az Audi Sport az R8 LMS kifejezetten a hosszú távú, megbízhatósági versenyekre kifejlesztett változatával készül. Gyári szinten egyelõre nem tervezik az új GT3-autó versenyeztetését.
Az Audi R8 LMS fejlesztésében Christian Abt, Frank Biela és Frank Stippler tapasztalt versenyzõk is részt vettek.
Az Audi jelenlegi versenysport-tevékenységét ügyfélsport-programja formájában újabb pillérrel egészíti ki, amely a tervek szerint középtávon önfinanszírozóként mûködne, s az új ingolstadti ügyfélsport-centrum is ezt szolgálná.
A versenysport jelentõsége az Audi számára
„Az AUDI AG 2008-ban versenysport-tevékenysége történetének legsikeresebb szezonját zárta” – jelentette be Dr. Wolfgang Ullrich, az Audi versenyigazgatója. „A 2009-es esztendõben is ezen az úton szeretnénk járni. Tekintettel azonban a nemzetközi gazdasági és pénzügyi válságra, egyértelmû, hogy a költségcsökkentésbõl a versenysportnak is ki kell venni részét. Annál örömtelibb, hogy megleltük a szükséges forrásokat két nagy projektünk, a Le Mans-i sport-prototípusok és a DTM programjának folytatására, s mindezt sporttevékenységünk újabb gyöngyszemeként a GT3 ügyfélsport-sorozattal egészíthettük ki. Mindez jól mutatja, milyen fontos a versenysport az Audi számára.”
