A legtöbb német magazin kb 65-70%-ra értékelte a játékot mert annyira tele van bugokkal és rossz megoldásokkal, nem véletlenül jött ki azóta már az 1.5-ös oroszverziós peccs, hogy ezeket javítsa.
Itt a lista amibõl lehet szemezgetni, hogy mi az ami nem jó a JA2-höz képest:
- it´s basically a JA2 clone with modern (and quite decent looking) 3D graphics. but game mechanics are flawed and less sophisticated than JA2.
- the UI and handling is very complicated and impractical.
- the difficulty is frustratingly high. enemys can shoot your mercs down easily whilst your mercs seem to hit squat. enemys have massive to-hit advantages at almost any range to an often unfair degree.
- the AI throws grenades over enormous distances too precise and always hits the target spot on. meaning: if the enemy readys a grenade --> quickload. your mercs on the other hand can never throw as far as even the weakest enemy and often fail to throw as intended.
- there seems to be not much difference to the demo in the final release version.
- the game crashes frequently and has numerous serious bugs
- the engine wasn´t developed to be any moddable. so modders will eventually have a hard time. which is good for 1.13 project.
- inventory management has been improved quite a lot. you have universal sector inventory now.
- the AI seems to be even worse and less clever than in original JA2 (if that is even possible)
- AI soldiers tend to retreat into the "black zone" of the map edges, where you cannot see or aim at them, but they can see and aim at you. quite a severe bug.
- the bad game balance and high difficulty means a lot of quicksave/quickloading and lots of frustrating moments.
- mercs no longer need sleep and can arrive in any designatd sector instantly. same goes for online ordered supplies.
- no more tactical retreats possible when enemys are in sector. it´s stand or die now.
- there is no more day/night cycle
- no more ambidextrous shooting
- neither enemys or mercs can climb over fences but you can climb through windows.
- no more special skills for the mercs. base values is all that defines them now.
- no more militia training. instead, you can hire other mercenarys to defend your conquered sectors.
- long loading times
seems to be a classical "wait till it gets patched and/or modded to become playable" title.
update: yup, the user reviews so far paint the picture of a grossly unstable and bugged piece of software with some srious design flaws. an unstable beta version at best. needs serious patching and attention from modders to make it playable and enjoyable.
maybe afp could make a "badass mod" for it?
some reviewers even compare it to Brigade E5 in terms of bad gameplay and bugs. oh my....
update: it seems, as if there´s already a patch 1.5 out for the russian version which fixes a lot of bugs.
