"One thing you may notice with the new update is that AI ships flee more than in 4.10. This is because they did not flee at all before. This has now been fixed.
Would like to request feedback on this feature. Do they flee too much? Too early? Too late? A description of the situation and why you think they ought to have acted other than how they did would be of help.

Particularly useful for player-owned ships: the Flee feature is tied to your pilots' primary skills* with particular emphasis on Morale.
- A pilot or captain with lower morale will tend to flee sooner if attacked, regardless of damage incurred.
- A pilot or captain with higher total primary skills will tend to be able to more accurately judge if they're in actual danger.
* Primary skills are those skills that are shown in bold type in the character's details."
